Controls, zoning and commissioning

The difference between installed and working properly is often controls, balancing and commissioning.

Approach

Comfort depends on the system being understandable.

Heatfix sets up heating systems so zones, pumps, valves, emitters and heat sources behave as one system, not a collection of parts.

Commissioning is where the design intent becomes something the client can actually feel.

01

Zoning logic

Controls matched to how the home is used and how the hydraulics work.

02

Balancing

Flows and temperatures checked so rooms heat properly without wasteful settings.

03

Handover

Clear operating information so the system can be used and maintained.

Commissioning questions

Installed equipment must be set up as a system.

What can commissioning include?

Depending on the agreed scope, commissioning can include testing, balancing, pump and valve checks, control settings, weather compensation and clear operating information.

Why does zoning sometimes cause comfort problems?

Zones, pumps, valves and the heat source need compatible control logic. Poor sequencing or excessive subdivision can lead to unstable flow, short cycling or rooms that fight each other.

What information helps diagnose an existing issue?

Send plant-room and control photographs, a description of which rooms underheat or overheat, system pressure and temperature observations, and details of recent changes.

Controls enquiry

Send the symptoms, photos and existing controls.

Good context includes what does not heat correctly, what overheats, current controls, plant-room photos and any recent changes.
